A gap year places young adults in unfamiliar environments where new food cultures, shifting routines, and constant comparison—both online and with their peers—can make it difficult to maintain a grounded relationship with eating and body image. These pressures can increase vulnerability to disordered eating patterns, stress, and emotional overwhelm. I partner with Program Directors to help students build the skills they need to stay mentally well and maintain body neutrality as they adapt to these changes.
